| The Heritage Room is positioned in the heart of Salisbury's downtown Historic District and offers beautiful views overlooking Easy Street, the F&M Financial Center garden, the Waterworks Visual Arts Center, and the Trolley Barn. Conveniently located in the Council Street Commons building in the first block of East Council Street, this historic structure was originally the home of McCanless Motor Company from 1924 to 1950, and later became a manufacturing facility for Stanley furniture. In 1996, Karen and Henry Alexander began the challenge of renovating and restoring the building, which is presently home to KKA Architecture, Cooper Advertising, Steve Norman Photography, Salisbury Therapeutic Massage, and A Step In Time. The latest development is the 2,600 square foot Heritage Room, a multi-functional space for numerous types of corporate and private events. Amenities include a catering kitchen, a large coat closet, convenient restrooms, and a 630 square foot balcony overlooking Easy Street and the surrounding area. The Heritage Room was recently awarded with both the NC Dept of Commerce 2005 NC Main Street Award of Merit for Best Adaptive Reuse Project, and a 2006 award from the Salisbury Community Appearance Commission for Adaptive Reuse of an Existing Building for Council Street Commons. The Heritage Room can accommodate events ranging from 100 to 250 people. |
